![]() September 27, 2005College: Year TwoSo i'm back at it again... doin that whole education thing again... this semester doesn't seem too bad so far. I'm getting involved with Epic leadership this year... lots to do now! :) How are my classes you may be asking? Well... overall... not soooo bad... except for thermodynamics... the first day my prof tells us he's never taught a class in English before :O but it's not the accent that gets to you... it's his mumbling!!! So imagine this middle aged, short, Korean man pacing back and forth in front of the class scribbling a few equations on the board... some diagrams here and there... saying somethin loud enough to hear every once in a while... and then mumbling pretty much to himself the rest of class... lovely... good thing i understand this stuff right now... solids is kinda like that... but the Russian-like accent of Yannis Korkolis isn't so bad and he speaks loud enough to hear. Am i gonna make it this semester? Most likely yes. But besides doin well in classes... what i really wanna do is grow this year... last year was sort of a plateau... not much growth at all... but this year i feel like God has really called me to serve with Epic and help "turn lost Asian-American students into Christ-centered laborers" (our mission statement). And in this process, i pray that God reveals to me what he wants me to do and where he wants me to go with my life. I personally also want to see Epic grow since it has been pretty small from the start. Freshmen are the main targets so I really hope all of you can come out and see what Epic is like and whether or not you feel like God is calling you to come and serve with us. Yes, yes... nothing wrong with AACM... but it's not for everybody... so don't just go somewhere because your friends are going there... i think i made that mistake last year... just ask God where he wants you to be and he will tell you :) Well... thats my spiel... on to current events! Hurricane Rita... what a tease, haha. Hey, but it got my mom to finally come visit me :D Funny... it takes a hurricane to get my mom to come up and visit. Even though nothing really bad happened back in the land of sugar, i'm still glad my mom came up and was safe (my dad was in Vancouver at the time). It was her birthday too! so we went out to dinner! And apparently... Sharon's mom and Ivan's mom's birthdays are on the same day as my mom's birthday... crazy! haha, anyways... all in all... Rita made my life rather enjoyable though i wish it had brought some rain and wind to Austin so that we didn't have to cancel ultimate frisbee for no reason :( If i mentioned anything about the hurricane ending up hitting in a pretty good place... it wasn't meant to be mean... but truly, God spared our area and sent the hurricane through the area that was already destroyed by Katrina... thus only causing more damage to an area that was already damaged... so actually causing the most minimal amount of damage possible... i think... haha, my theory may be wack. Anyways, that's it for now... maybe more to come... pictures probably... pray for one another! Adios! Comments
next year on sept 22...lets throw a jeremy/ivan/sharon's mommy bday bash!! haha :P Posted by: sharone at September 28, 2005 02:10 AMmmm..i commented! have a great year! =) Posted by: Mich at September 28, 2005 11:25 PMi'm glad you're doing epic this year. :) glad we had lunch together! have a GREAT year! Posted by: kelley at September 29, 2005 10:22 PMhey. so far no one has commented on the real meat of your post, but i totally a gree with you. don't go to a meeting/church where your friends' needs get met or where God has called your friends. You need to be able to grow yourself, and not depend on others. I forgot the main reason I wanted to tag your entry. I think I wanted to ask if you were doing mechanical engineering..... Also I'm buying an iPOD nano (cause Apple finally met my demands..black...tiny..and more than enoguh space for me). I'll tell you how that goes ;p Posted by: gid at September 30, 2005 08:58 PMhey if my small group continues to meet around 4pm in thursdays, i can prob make it to Epic meetings! i totally plan on checking it out soon so keep me updated on whats going on there, please :) maybe seeya...at the PCL again? :D Posted by: G at October 3, 2005 06:29 PM |
